The receptionist’s voice cut across the main lobby loudly enough for every employee near the entrance to hear.
She extended one arm like a barrier and blocked the turnstile, staring down a man in a faded canvas jacket and worn blue jeans who had just walked through the front doors.
A few people nearby laughed under their breath.
Two security guards moved closer, positioning themselves as though the stranger might become a problem.
