They knew that with his disappearance, they would inherit all his fortune, including the family home, and they planned to murder him to get what they wanted. “I faked my death to buy time,” Nick explained to me in a low voice, full of pain.
“I knew that if I let them act without any response from me, they would eventually carry out their plan. But I didn’t want to lose you, or our children. So, with Michael, we came up with this plan to observe them and gather evidence.”
