I knew my decisions would raise questions, maybe even resentment, but I hoped they would ultimately lead to a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a family. I walked back to the boarding area, the weight on my shoulders lifted slightly. As my flight was called, I realized that this moment wasn’t an end but a new beginning.
