He stormed out, humiliated.
Most of the guests trickled away after the laughter died down—but one of Ryan’s friends stayed behind. Zach. He chuckled and said, “Honestly, that was the best comeback I’ve ever seen.” We ended up talking for hours, laughing like I hadn’t in months.
Turns out, Zach thought I deserved better too.
