Tom, Layla’s husband, has a family vacation tradition each year to which she is not invited. Layla finally asks why she can’t join after years of being excluded, but Tom lies and blames his mother.

I tried not to let that excuse get to me for twelve long years by swallowing it.
I only wanted to fight so many battles, and this was not one of them.
