The tickets were expensive, so I’d already told her we’d try another day.
She accepted it better than I expected.
Then a young resort employee approached us.
He looked maybe 25.
White polo.
Khaki shorts.
Resort logo embroidered over his chest.
Even his name tag looked official.
It read, “EVAN — GUEST ACTIVITIES.”
“We had a cancellation,” he said. “There’s one free seat if she’d like it.”
